God is light. We are not called to simply observe His light, but are invited to walk in this light. John explains what it means to walk in the light. As God’s children, we walk in the light by keeping Jesus’ commands, loving one another, and letting go of the things of this world. When we walk in the light with the One with the words of eternal life, we are confronted and empowered with new life, new allegiance, new position, new love, and new power. Because of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, our lives and our communion with God are brought into an entirely new light.
